Liposuction, also known as lipoplasty (``fat modeling``), liposculpturesuction lipectomy (``suction-assisted fat removal``) or simply lipo is a cosmetic surgery operation that removes fat from many different sites on the human body, so you can gain a nicely shaped, but most importantly, a healthy body!
A unique technique
Areas affected can range from the breast (gynecomastia), abdomen, thighs and buttocks, to the neck, backs of the arms and elsewhere. In this approach, a small cannula (like a straw) attached to a syringe is inserted through small incisions in the affected areas of the body. The cannulas are moved back and forth underneath the skin, vacuuming out excess fat deposits for a better contour. Liposuction is typically an outpatient procedure using local or epidural anesthesia combined with sedation, and generally takes less than 2 hours to complete. Once the fat is out of your body, the total amount of lipoaspirated fat is separated into two equal portions. The first part is maintained as it is, as it contains stem cells. The second part undergoes stem cell isolation and is added to the first part. The result is the Stromal Enriched Lipograft (SEL) which then can be used for buttocks augmentation or correcting congenital or acquired face and body defects.
Fast Recovery
Liposuction recovery usually takes about 2 weeks. Patients can expect some degree of bruising and swelling in the first few days after liposuction. Patients are encouraged to wear a compression garment for 15 days after surgery to facilitate the healing process. Over the course of the recovery period, the full results of liposuction should become apparent. Patients are generally able to resume normal daily activities about 2-3 days after the procedure.

Then the patient undergoes the removal of excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen in order to tighten the muscle and fascia of the abdominal wall. This type of surgery is usually sought by patients with loose tissues after pregnancy or individuals with sagging after major weight loss. It requires overnight stay in the hospital and is performed by epidural anesthesia and sedation.
Contraindications
Contraindications to Composite Body Contouring by SEL include severe concomitant medical problems. While not absolute contraindications, the risk of postoperative complications is increased in cigarette smokers and patients with hypertension and diabetes. Patients are typically asked to abstain from taking aspirin or other blood thinners for at least one week prior to surgery.
Fast Recovery
Patients should expect a recovery process of 1-2 weeks before feeling completely back to normal. Some swelling and bruising is to be expected while the area heals, and any discomfort can be managed with medication. Strenuous exercise and strain to the abdominal region should be avoided for at least six weeks after this procedure. There will be some degree of scarring after the procedure; which in most cases will likely diminish to a certain extent over time, and the scar can typically be hidden under clothing, and even swimwear.
