Upper eyelid surgery typically involves the removal of excess skin that is affecting your vision and/or giving you a tired, haggard appearance. After our special Blepharoplasty you will not believe your eyes with how refreshed and soft you will feel…
Understanding upper & lower eyelid surgery
The remaining skin is lifted and reattached for a smoother and refreshed look. Upper eyelid surgery can also help improve vision for those with drooping skin that is affecting your ability to see. Incisions for the procedure are made in the crease of the upper eyelid, so residual scarring should be barely visible. A local anesthetic combined with sedation can be used for upper eyelid surgery. The procedure is generally performed as an outpatient and takes 30 minutes.
Lower eyelid surgery is mainly performed to reduce the appearance of bagginess under the eyes. A small incision is made under the lower eyelashes and excess skin and fat are removed. The remaining skin is reshaped into a smoother and firmer appearance. This procedure is typically completed under local anesthesia combined with sedation in an outpatient basis, and takes 30 minutes.
Contraindications
Contraindications to blepharoplasty include severe concomitant medical problems. While not absolute contraindications, the risk of postoperative complications is increased in cigarette smokers and patients with hypertension and diabetes. Patients are typically asked to abstain from taking aspirin or other blood thinners for at least one week prior to surgery.
Pain-free recovery
Patients can expect some degree of swelling and bruising during the week. Any discomfort can be alleviated with medication. Patients may also experience sensitivity to light, tearing, and temporary blurry. Normal routines can typically be resumed after 2-3 days. Strenuous activities should be avoided for at least two weeks after blepharoplasty. Then you will see your new you!
